Visit Sigiriya & climb the Sigiriya rock fortress
UNESCO world heritage site Sigiriya consists of an ancient castle built by King Kassapa during the 5th century. It is both royal palace and a fortress. Pair of lion paws still guards the staircase that leads to the summit, which was once occupied by a royal palace. There are also well preserved fresco’s carved into the rock and the vast surrounding water gardens are also worth a visit.
Proceed to the Dambulla cave temple
Dambulla is part of the cultural triangle. Dambulla cave temple declared a UNESCO world heritage site. Dambulla caves date back to 1st century BCE. It has a 05 caves under a vast overhanging rock, carved with a drip ledge to keep the interiors dry. In 1938 the architecture was inflated with arched walkways.
